In 2022, The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) launched the revised Behavioral Health Strategy. This multi-faceted approach is designed to “increase access to equitable and high-quality behavioral health services and improve outcomes” across substance use disorders, mental health services, crisis intervention, and pain care.
From this hour-long session—presented by Katherine Verlander, Division Director, Division of Health Innovation and Integration of the CMS Innovation Center—you will gain an understanding of the CMS Innovation Center and the CMS Behavioral Health Strategy, including current programs, activities, and resources to support SUD and behavioral health providers.

About the Presenter:
Katherine Verlander, Division Director, Division of Health Innovation and Integration of the CMS Innovation Center.
Katherine’s division houses the Maternal Opioid Misuse Model in Medicaid, the Value in Opioid Use Disorder Treatment Demonstration in Medicare, and behavioral health work in development. Katherine has been at CMMI since 2016 working on models such as the Accountable Health Communities (AHC) Model and the Integrated Care for Kids Model. Before joining CMMI, she worked at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta.
